Welcome! Writing this page makes me nervous as often people who have first discovered the blog will turn to this page to get a brief idea of what the blog is about. However, I decided it was time to take the bull by the horns (in a friendly, non-violent way…) and get on with it. So here begins the whistle-stop tour of me.
I’m a student nurse; mature student and for the third time around (I seem to be collecting degrees- I also have a BAhons in Theology and Religious Studies, and a Masters in Christianity and Culture), and I live in the UK with my lovely husband.
I love all things food related and will eat anything as long as it’s gluten free and vegan friendly. I have been gluten free for years but have recently begun my journey into veganism. I was a vegetarian throughout my teens. Then I met my husband who converted me to his omnivorous ways (I’m weak, I know). However, even then I rarely ate meat nor did I enjoy it much (if we ate out I would always try to go for the vegetarian option). So this year, partly due to ill health, I have taken the plunge and decided to eat a vegan diet (I’m dairy intolerant as well so that makes it a bit easier). I’m also interested in the raw food diet and try to incorporate some of these principles into my daily diet. I’m amazed how much I love eating this way, how natural it feels, and the energy it gives me. So, this is what my blog is primarily about – my raw food journey, good gluten-free, vegan food and health.
Here are some things that I love:
I love meeting people that I can share my passions with and learn from their passions and wisdom.
I love sharing good food with friends and family, chatting and laughing.
I love literature. I love most types of fiction; I’ll read pretty much anything apart from exceptionally trashy airport novels. I love philosophy, theology, social theory, psychology, history and sociology. Basically, I love reading about anything that tackles or reflects upon what makes us human beings.
I’m a bit obsessive about health and fitness (physical, emotional, spiritual and mental health) and reading all about it.
I’m slowly becoming a yoga nut; having recently discovered it I am now developing an addiction.
My achilles heal: an occasional nice glass, or two…, of red wine (maybe not so healthy, but it’s debatable) occasionally
I love watching comdey films and programmes. Current favourites are The Inbetweeners, Family Guy, Gavin and Stacey, and Shooting Stars.
Both my husband and I are passionate about travelling. We’re at our best together when we’re travelling and we try to discover somewhere new every year. We’re also a bit obsessive about the US political drama West Wing (I think we’ve seen the series from start to finish 3 times, and are currently on our fourth time around).
I love writing creatively. Which leads me to this blog; my own accessible medium of creative and therapeutic expression.

Fellow gluten free blogger,
I’m staring a carnival blog as a one-stop shopping place for gluten free information. A blog carnival is like a magazine of articles that gets published on a schedule. Every 3 months (I hope it catches on so that we can do this more often – at least monthly), bloggers submit an article related to the GF lifestyle from their blog. The submission will be combined with all others onto 1 carnival page, which will include links to each participant’s article on their own blog (so you retain the rights to the post, and your trademarks stay intact). We can all take turns being the host blogger (if you are interested in hosting, let me know!). We hope that we can all learn from each other and introduce our readers to other gluten free sites out there.
If you’d like to see a sample carnival, check out http://allergickid.blogspot.com/2009/06/living-with-food-allergies-blog.html.
Joining the community of contributors is a great way to get more readers to your blog. It’s easy to do. Just follow the below link and fill in the quick form linking one of your best blog posts to the carnival page. Topic areas will include recipes, tips, research, advice/support, etc. Your post will be posted along with contributions from other GF bloggers.

The deadline for the next carnival is July 25, 2009. Be sure to let your readers know about the first carnival. It’ll be posted on August 1st at http://thefoodallergycoach.blogspot.com/.
Looking forward to reading your post,
Kim
